Tourism Development

A sustainable approach to tourism means;

  • Invest in our unique core identity, by promoting art expression, embracing our vibrant culture and protecting our heritage

  • Build strong partnerships, based on trust and mutual benefit, both on the island and internationally

  • Do no harm - protect our natural and our man-made environment and empower our community

Working from this philosophy, Kayena Consulting supports organizations in rolling out projects within tourism organizations with a long term impact. Depending on your needs, this can include;

  • concept development,

  • a feasibility and impact study,

  • development of business- and implementation plan, and

  • project managing from the moment of conception through the start of the endeavor.

We often forget how beautiful and special Curaçao really is. Viewing it through the eyes of a visitor brings this to the foreground. Developing areas in a tasteful way creates areas of interest, not just for the visitors, but especially for our inhabitants. It is like decorating your living room for visitors and profiting from a welcoming room yourself year round. By being proud of our island, and seeing how comfortable and clean it can be, this pride can radiate out into other aspects of ourselves, our community and other economic innovations.

Are we following the lead of other Caribbean islands when it comes to tourism, or do we want to forge our own path? Curaçao offers the same sun, sand & sea as the other islands, but has a unique opportunity to set itself apart from the rest. The historical city has been recognized since 1997 as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The island is buzzing with artistic endeavors, showcased in galleries, museums and on almost every street corner. Music, dance, street art, you name it.

Furthermore, with around 30% of grid energy already being produced in a sustainable way, and by making the island more ‘sailboat-friendly’, we have the opportunity to develop as a ‘guilt-free travel’ destination, by focusing on environmental protection and green business practices.

Tourism done the right way can have an impact on a society far beyond the economic benefits.
